|Sat-Sun, Aug 4-5||Rapid River||IV||Flowing from Pond in the River to Lake Umbagog in far western Maine, the Rapid has some great clear (rare in Maine) class III and IV white water in a remote and scenic setting. After a serene paddle across Pond in the River, there is a mile of class II warm-up before the rollicking class IV pitches, followed by lunch and crunch at Smooth Ledge, one of the best play holes around. A few more fun rapids (if you?re not swimming) and you?re at Lake Umbagog. If you?re a class IV paddler, put the Rapid on your list (it?s name says it all)! PS the book ?We Took To The Woods? by Louise Dickinson Rich was written on rivers edge.||Bill & Sally Blauvelt||899-2157 ||email|
